This layout was never actually used as a version of my site. It was programmed about a month or two before I learned CSS. I created it to test Dreamweaver layers as an alternative to html frames and also, to experiment with functions of buttons keeping in mind interface usability. I've noticed that while the buttons behave in accordance with best practices of the time, convention has taken hold. Consequently, this menu feels like there are too many link states.
